About Herald11

Herald11 is a free web gazetteer — a subject-sorted directory of websites catalogued in the tradition of the printed reference work. The directory holds 835 entries distributed across 22 sections, each covering a distinct corner of the web.

The sections of Herald11 are arranged by subject: from the Wagering Ledger and the Apparatus Gazette to the Journey Index and the Counsel Gazette. Within each section, entries are listed in the order they entered the record. No entry is ranked above another, and the directory does not carry advertising or sponsored placements.

Herald11 is free to browse. Visitors may move between sections using the subject index on the home page, or they may enter a section directly and read the full list of recorded addresses. Each entry shows the domain name, the site title, and a short description supplied by the site owner or assembled from the site itself.

Submission to Herald11 is also free. Site owners may use the submission form to file a new address; submitted sites are reviewed for basic quality and then entered in the appropriate section. The process is straightforward and takes less than a minute.

The name Herald11 reflects the directory purpose: to announce and record, systematically, the addresses of the working web. It is a public record, maintained for the convenience of anyone who prefers a subject index over an algorithmic search result.
